Savoir Adore-New video: Scientific Findings

Savoir Adore "The Scientific Findings of Dr. Rousseau" from Cantora Records on Vimeo.

Even in a scene as vibrant as Brooklyn's, Paul Hammer and Deidre Muro - the principal members of Savoir Adore - bring something entirely unique and exciting to the table with their lush, leftfield slant on pop.

Band Alert- Hatcham Social

Who is Hatcham Social for people who don't know you already?
We are an underground guitar pop combo who write their own songs.

Haven't seen much from you guys this summer, what have you been up too?

We are currently writing our second full length album. There is a taste of the new songs on the Fierce Panda Gruff Trade EP.

I see you have a debut album out now, share some more details please?

The album is called 'You Dig The Tunnel, I'll Hide The Soil'. Released on cool indie legends Fierce Panda. Mainly played live in a studio up north under the production supervision of Tim Burgess. Faris Badwan also lent a hand on a song. Its an album about making your own world. The artwork is worth a mention, its a wonderful painting based upon the Death Mask by Francis Bacon, illustrating the awakening into a new world and the death of your old self. It was painted by the artist Nicola Probert.

What can we expect from Hatcham Social in the next couple of months?

We will be playing a couple of intimate shows, showing off and trying out our new songs.

Biggest highlight of your career so far and where do you want to see yourselves in the future?

Highlight was making the first album and the people we have met along the way. We will be doing more.

Who influenced you as a band and anyone who is tickling your fancy at the moment?

Who cares. The people we meet, the T.V, the books in the library. What's important is that we create something that coveys its intention and heart and that we don't just show off our sound library and technical dexterity to raise awareness of our impeccable taste. Although it is impeccable.

Anything else you would like to add they we need to know?

The next album is going to be something very special. Its going to prove that we should be the biggest band in the country

Festibelly 2010

Buried in the depths of the New Forest and holding a capacity of only 2000, Festibelly is still a hidden secret just waiting to be discovered. Being a home-grown event and given the seal of approval from Rob Da Bank, it has been given a lot of potential and has become a hot spot for the locals. Surrounded by one main stage and various entertainment stalls, you are given the impression you have entered a school fete with all the usual nooks and crannies on offer.

Despite being a miniature one day festival, they still managed to drag in some major artists along the way including the electro duo, The Big Pink who went down a fighting storm. Joining Muse on their tour this September really comes to no surprise, showing us their exceptional presence, talented skills and addictive rifts and beats.

Not to mention Man Like Me who really brought the early 90’s powerpop back into full swing once again making you want to cringe with horror but really smiling with delight. Hearing them on a regular ipod really does them no justice, they need to be seen live to enjoy their full potential. Their honest outspoken lyrics are teamed up with bongos, comical dance moves and outrageous outfits that flood back the unforgettable memories of fashion you all dared to wear.

With My Tiger My Timing, O’Children and Johnny Flynn were all doing their usual expected performances. I was lured in with some new talent this season such as Lulu and The Lampshades. Bringing exquisite instruments to their routine really brought an all round array to the rustic festival.

Tek-one taking control of the stage became one of the memorable favourites of the day for many. Their dub step electronic skills excited the crowd into an ultimate frenzy leaving people slightly disappointed at the end due to their early slot.
Overall Festibelly was an outright success if you are looking for fun and games, friendly atmosphere and great music and organic food all in one, this is the place to be in 2011.

Band Alert- Little Comets.

http://www.myspace.com/littlecometsmusic

Who are the Little Comets and where was your name inspired from?

We are called Michael, Robert, Mark and Matt. We come from beneath the hue-drenched hills of Newcastle upon Tyne and enjoy orienteering, casual building and discussing European cinema at our local library. Our name comes from Matt, he stepped on a comb and said a curse-word after "you little....". His girlfriend misheard the curse-word as comet....

Describe your sound for those who are not familiar with you already?

Hmmmm, someone once described us as a multi-pronged quadrilateral with jaunt, rhythym, alacrity and ablution as sides... I suppose we just try to make our music sound as authentic as the original intention was meant to be.....

Who or what is your inspiration for your music?

We get influenced from lots of different places like Jonathan Safran Foer, the-opposite-of-Michael-Gove, stories we hear and the weather...

You are set to go on a massive tour shortly, how are you preparing yourselves and could you give us some more details?

Erm yep, we're playing lots of places during October using Aberbeen, Southampton, Norwich and Cardiff as our cardinal points. The preparation is by stocking up on meaningful emotional moments, programming a new voice into the sat-nav and Matt is going to hollow out a flight case so we can sneak Michael into the travelodge undetected.

Darwin Deez has become vastly popular this year, how did you manage to be part of their tour?

Mark had a dream in which he met Darwin and they had discussed the intricacies of playing together - sharing drum kits, political ideologies, dietary requirements - the next day the phone rang and Darwin had had exactly the same dream. So we decided to fuse together that cerebral meeting in the hope that by touring we can harness the energy and save the world.

Out of the four of you, who gets the most attention of the ladies?

Either Scott or Abs.

If you were not in a band, what would you be doing now?

We'd all be something different and varied..... here's what: Mark would become the new face of Burberry, but only the scarves; Matt already speculates on currency markets so would probably make a run on the Thai Bhat; Mickey would become a doctor or inventor and I think I'd probably get an allotment or help Fahran with this pretend college.

As a band what would you guys like to achieve?

Hahaha, I don't really know, that is a hard question. As long as we get to play, write and record music then we'll be happy...... what a boring answer...... :)

Tell us more about your new single which is set for release soon?

The new single is called Isles and it is just a collection of words and notes that we wrote while we were rehearsing in Gateshead. There seems to be a strange disconnect in a lot of cities between people and their urban environment... Gateshead has an amazing concert hall used by about 0.5% of the local population, yet the main shopping street is a total mess. On a purely superficial level this bothered us, so we wrote about it.

Any band or artist you would like to shout about at the moment?

Yep, tonnes...... Psychobuildings (New York swirl pop), Peter in the Woods (Liverpudlian revival, drill beat) and this Greek artist called Leviathon Akash who paints "stunning vistas".
